Ladystairs is a second floor apartment in a listed building on the Lawnmarket (the top section of the famous Royal Mile) and is approximately 150metres from Edinburgh Castle. This self-catering apartment is furnished and decorated to a very high standard to make your stay in Edinburgh as comfortable as possible.

The apartment is a pleasant walk to many other major Edinburgh attractions such as the Royal Scottish Museum and the National Gallery of Scotland. There is also a copious amount of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops in the immediate area.

LOUNGE/KITCHEN ROOM
This combined lounge/kitchen area has been completely equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It contains a sofa bed (which converts to a comfortable double bed) and a dining table suitable for four guests. A fireplace with a coal effect fire provides additional heat to the convector heater and some smaller items of furniture and lighting features create a wonderful ambience in the room. A widescreen TV with approximately 30 digital channels. Guests who have a laptop can also enjoy a free broadband connection either through the supplied cable or by wifi. There is a fantastic bay window to give you a superb view of the Royal Mile.

The kitchen area is fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, electric oven & hob, microwave oven, washer/dryer and cutlery & crockery for up to four people.

BEDROOM
This is a lovely double bedroom with a bay window with a wonderful view of the Royal Mile. A kingsize double bed with two bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a hanging area provide ample storage space for your possessions. There a wall mounted LCD TV with 30+ digital channels and it has a built in DVD player.

SHOWER ROOM
Instant electric shower, wc and basin, plus a shaver point.

Access Arrangements

A "meet and greet" service is operated , whereby you will be met at a property at a pre-arranged time to give access. Full instructions of this procedure can be found in the secure guest area after a booking has been completed. It is very important that an approximate arrival time is provided before arrival for this process. Entry is from 14:00 onwards but if nobody has booked to depart on your day of arrival it will probably be very suitable for us to give you entry as early as possible. Departure is by 10am (a guaranteed late departure up to 20:00 can be obtained for 50% of that daily rate. Please contact us if you want to utilise this facility and a price will be calculated).

Please note that arrivals after 19:00 will incur a range of late arrival fee.

**LATE ARRIVAL: fees, 19:00 - 22:30 - 15 pounds, 22:31 - 00:00 - 30 pounds and 00:01 - 02:00 - 50 pounds. The latest access can be given is 02:00, otherwise it is given at 08:00 the next day. ESC accept no liability for any costs involved in alternative accommodation for this 6 hour period.


A deposit of 25% is payable on booking and the outstanding balance of the rental price must be received 2 months prior to your arrival date. For bookings made less than eight weeks before your arrival date the whole rental price falls payable at the time of booking. Please note that a separate 200 pounds refundable key/security deposit must be provided prior to arrival. This is rescinded 5 days after departure.

Exterior Property is in a listed building on the famous Royal Mile which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Location

Directions

There are three options to get from Edinburgh airport to the city centre, all take approx 30-35 minutes. The main rail station Waverley is approx 250 metres from the apt.

1. Edinburgh trams, approx every 8-10 mins (Sunday 12-15 mins), right outside terminal, the nearest drop off point for the apt is the Princes St stop which is approx 300 metres away. Cost 8.50 pounds for adults and 4.50 pounds for children for a RETURN journey.

2. Airport express bus, every 15 minutes right outside terminal building, drop off point on Waverley Bridge approx 250 metres from apt. Costs 7.50 pounds per person for a RETURN journey.

3. Taxi, many can be found right outside the terminal building and will cost 15 - 20 pounds for a one way journey. However a taxi will drop you off right outside the property you have booked.

Parking

Street parking is enforced Mon Sat 08:00 - 18:30, it is expensive and inflexible as you can only stay in one spot for a few hours.

There are many city centre car parks to choose from, you can use these for a short time or full days which cost approx 16 pounds or more or enter the postcode of the property you have booked into this website http://www.parkopedia.co.uk/

Alternatively if you do not plan your use your car much, (Edinburgh is a relatively small city centre and is much better explored on foot), leave your car in a well lit residential street outside the restricted city centre, the whole operation should take approx 30 minutes. Alternatively, the return journey in a taxi from an unrestricted area (approx 2.5 km) would be less than one days parking charges. Information on the best areas for this can be provided.

We were told we would be able to check in luggage if apartment not yet ready months in advance. Not true. Had to wait hours.
Also, person meeting us incorrectly told us we had a dryer, not just a washer and we spent hours trying to keep getting clothes to not be soaking wet to no success. Phoned several times to find out problem, and told it must be broken.
We returned a week later to same apartment: he then told us he had been wrong and that the machine was only a washer!!!
A POSITIVE is that he helped us carry our suitcase upstairs.and apologized for his error first visit.

Stairs are really hard to deal with luggage as warned but be aware they are really tiny spiral stairs

Have used ESC several times now and always found the handovers smooth. Lucaz was waiting for us on our arrival this year and gave good clear instructions about the flat. Accommodation was of the usual high standard and location perfect.

Flat OK, although generally grubby. Post visit response to a few suggested improvements down right aggressive. Would not use again!

Expensive enough without having to carry out my own cleaning with products I had to go out of my way to purchase!

Our response

Service rating : Extremely worrying that this person whom we had a difficult relationship with has waited 8 months to place these detrimental erroneous comments and are certainly not a true account of the sequence of events. We do however agree it is in the interest of both parties if we never meet again.
Product : There was no need to carry cleaning products, if there was something not satisfactory on arrival all that had to be done was contact the guest relations team to get it remedied.

We had a wonderful stay at Ladystairs, everything was catered for. The large bed was lovely to relax in with a cup of tea in the mornings whilst catching up the news on the wall mounted televsion in the bedroom. The location was just fabulous, close to all the things you would want to see in Edinburgh. It was so easy to pop back and have a quick cup tea whilst wathcing all the going on's in the famous Royal Mile below.
