This is a beautiful apartment in a historic building right on the Royal Mile, The location could not be better and yet it's very quiet. It is walking distance to all the sights of Edinburgh as well as to Waverly train station. The apartment is modern, spacious, immaculate, well-equipped, light, with lots of windows and with spectacular lighting. There is no lift yet the stairs are easy and wouldn't be a problem for most people. We have rented apartments all over Europe and this one is the best. Both Glenn and Dave were very helpful and professional and we would definitely rent from Edinburgh Self-Catering again. This apartment would be ideal for 2 couples traveling together.

My husband and I, and another couple, stayed in this apartment 18-22 September 2010 and really enjoyed it. =)

I've stayed at both the Parliament Sq. 1 and the Parliament Sq. 2 apartments, and though Parliament Sq. 1 has better views, I think Parliament Sq. 2 wins the contest for favorites with its amazing bathroom, its open floor plan, and its clean/contemporary feeling.

We enjoyed shopping the local markets for food to prepare in the apartment kitchen. The kitchen was great. Very spacious and well outfitted for cooking.

The location is, of course, fantastic! Very easy walk to Edinburgh Castle and right across the square from St. Giles. When we left Edinburgh, we just walked to the train station to catch our train - no problem.

Despite the fantastic location right on the Royal Mile, we didn't experience any problems with street noise. There are some ghost tours that run through the alley alongside the building in the evening, so you do get a little talking/laughing pedestrian noise there. But those tours didn't seem to run very late, and the apartment was altogether surprisingly quiet. If you're a light sleeper, you'll be happy to know that both Parliament Sq. 1 and Parliament Sq. 2 have wooden shutters and heavy drapes in the bedrooms to help cancel any noise.

I'd recommend this place for couples, families, a group of friends, mature travelers (as long as everyone in the group can handle the stairs - there's no elevator), or anyone looking for a spacious, relaxing, home-away-from home, sightseeing holiday apartment.

It is said that "location, location, location" is everything, well besides this flat having a great location it was fantastic in all other aspects ranging from a full modern kitchen, a very modern bath, comfortable sleeping quarters, and a extremely roomy living room area. We were in Edinburgh for a wedding and hosted a small get together of appetizers and drinks at the flat with about 14 people. Everyone who came to the flat could not believe what we had rented. They all commented about how beautiful it was with it's airy look of many windows, to the wooden floors, and it's quietness even with it being directly on the Mile. From the time I had inquired about the flat, to the rental, and to Dave at Flipkey meeting us after a long trip was all very effortless. The washer/dryer was a nice addition for we did not have to pack a lot of clothing or have to look for a laundry facilty which saved us time and money. There are a few local supermarkets within a 10 minute walk and again it was nice having a kitchen that had nice pans, silverware, dishes, and glasses so that we could cook a few meals to enjoy after a long day of sightseeing. All I can say is that when we come back to Scotland we will be looking at this property once again! Cheers

We traveled along with our kids and their high school theatre troup. We used Parliment Square as a central base. It was comfortable and light, with enough room to hold a 20 person gathering. The location is central without being too noisy in the heart of the Festival. Less expensive than a fine hotel and more inviting. Highly recommend it and ESC. Very accomodating and polite.

highly recommend this apartment for a stay in Edinburgh. The location is in the center of the Royal Mile, and close to many tourist attractions and restaurants. This apartment is especially convenient during the fringe since the box office is right next door!

When we arrived Kerry met us quickly and showed us around the place and made us feel right at home.

The only caveat is some noise from the nightly walking tours in the area. They seem to pass by the apartment a few times a night in the early evenings and then taper off as it approches 22:00. Truthfully the noise did not bother us, but it may bother light sleepers who are early to bed.
All in all we had a great stay at this apartment and would definitely stay there in the future.

The one recommendation I would make is, have a more complete welcome packet at the apartment with the locations of recommended restaurants, tourist sites, and grocery stores.

We found the apartment exactly as advertised, comfortable, and a great central location at the heart of the Royal Mile. Windows into the adjoining close did admit some noise from the occasional tour group and the twin beds in the second bedroom were a bit 'short' for one of our guests. However, overall, the apartment was a wonderful companion for our trip and a great introduction to this graceful city.

I stayed with friends while visiting the University of Edinburgh during the June recess. The apartment’s central location allowed me to walk to the library and national archives and my companions to explore New Town and Old Town. The extended June light each evening allowed us to hike through Holyrood Park and up to Nelson’s Monument and out to the excellent gastro pubs and restaurants recommended by the proprietors (both Spoon and The Dogs were excellent and fun!). The apartment was welcoming, gracious, functionally appointed and comfortable for the length of the trip. We were met by Dave on our first day, given a short tour of the apartment, and then left to enjoy the views over the close to Old Town and Arthur’s Seat. The lively and ever changing scene of the Royal Mile lay at our front steps. We were truly immersed in the Edinburgh experience. Dave recommended a pub for a ‘quiet pint’ on our first night and we returned again the night before we left to revel in this peaceful oasis at the center of the bustling Royal Mile. As a student of the Enlightenment I am confident when I say that the Scottish have never lost the grace, intelligence and hospitality that defines their reputation. Edinburgh today represents a pinnacle of European civilization as it did 300 years ago. Thankfully, the accommodations have improved.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay here. The property is comfortable, clean and very well equipt. The shower is amazing!!! It is in an excellent position and within walking distance of some great restaurants and bars. The apartment is also within walking distance of the airport express bus. I would most definitely recommend this property to anyone and will be returning.
